Luna:lab is driven by the world's most pivotal problems - excessive extraction, linear production, singular consumption and wasteful disposal. At Luna:lab we reject the concept of waste and choose to see value in every matter, we choose to recognize a resource in every by-product. At our labs, we closely study the industry's most problematic waste streams; we experiment with the matter by combining our knowledge of traditional materials’ composition, fabrication techniques, our imagination and a handful of bioscience to transform the unwanted and shameful by-products into as-good-as-gold resources. Guided by the rules of biomimicry, we have developed a diverse collection of bio-based composite materials for use in packaging, furniture and product design as well as interior architecture. Our materials are designed to help achieve closed-loop, environmentally and economically lean manufacturing which contributes to the rise of vernacular and circular eco [nomical] systems.
